Day 24 - Wildest Dreams
Taylor Swift
2014
Why It’s On The List:
For the longest time, I didn’t know any Taylor Swift songs and then I heard “Wildest Dreams” when my wife, Summer, purchased Taylor’s “1989” album. Instantly fell in love with it and this track was the conduit to get me more interested in Taylor’s song collection.
(Real quick - Where are we at with how we refer to Taylor Swift? Is it "Swift" or "Taylor" or full name, "Taylor Swift"? I'm going first name basis here.)

But it jumped to the levels of this particular Top 40 list when I stumbled across the excellent music video for this song. I will go as far to say that it’s my favorite music video of all time (check out my other favorites below).
The song is good but the video is great. I wish the story in this video was an actual movie. Love the Old Hollywood vibe. I would much rather see this movie than “Transforming Fast and Furious Pirates of the Caribbean, Part: 47.”
I miss music videos. “TRL” is going to be another thing from my past that will make absolutely no sense to our kids but it was fun while it lasted. I can’t even tell you the last time I had seen a music video before working on this project. And some of these songs had videos that I had never seen.
It was an interesting experience as I researched for this project - some songs are made better by the accompanying video but I have to admit that some songs are made worse. There were some songs throughout this list where I omitted the “official” music video because it seemed too silly or distracting away from the song. Others were vastly improved. I don't know if I would have ever realized that without going on this journey.

Favorite Line:
"You see me in hindsight
Tangled up with you all night
Burn it down"
While We’re Here:
Here are my other favorite music videos:
Bad Day - Like “Wildest Dreams,” I wish this video was an actual movie. It would have been the best rom-com of 2003.
Black Parade - Weird, dark, a little creepy but kind of in a silly way. Love everything about this video.
Buddy Holly - This video was pretty ahead of its time in the 90's. One of the first successful attempts at doctoring old footage for a new take.
...Baby One More Time - This video came out when I was a 17 year old boy. I don’t know what else to tell you.
